📝 Perceptions of In-home Monitoring Technology for Activities of Daily Living 📝

Our paper on the " Perceptions of In-home Monitoring Technology for Activities of Daily Living: Semistructured Interview Study With Community-Dwelling Older Adults " was just published on JMIR Aging 2022;5(2):e33714 doi:10.2196/33714 ! Thanks co-authors Nicola Camp, Julie Johnston, Martin G C Lewis, Alessandro Di Nuovo, Kirsty Hunter and Daniele Magistro for the excellent work! Many older adults want to stay in their own homes for as long as possible. However, it can be difficult to make sure they can live independently. This study looked at what older adults think are important daily activities and what technology they would be willing to use in their homes. Researchers talked to 32 older adults in the UK, with half being between 55 and 69 years old and the other half being 70 or older....

📝 Towards semiotically driven empirical studies of ballet as a communicative form 📝

This paper explores the use of dance as a way to communicate through movement, using classical ballet as an example. It examines how different approaches, such as linguistics, communication studies, and social semiotics, can be used to understand dance as a form of communication. The paper also discusses the use of technology, specifically motion capture technology, to track and study the physical movements of dance. It suggests that this approach can be used to better understand the relationship between movement and the meaning of dance, and can inform future research on the subject. The paper presents a specific method for studying ballet in this way and suggests how it can be applied to other forms of dance as well. You can read the paper on nature.com , and watch a couple of related videos on vimeo. Real-time FGD Concept video
